TERM 2- 2011




What is happening for this Term???

YEAR 1:
Our school wide concept is- 'Past, Present, Future'

We will be exploring:

  • Plants and what people have planted and grown over the years.
  • We will also step into the role of scientists and discover what Plants need to live and grow.
  • How we can adapt our environment to enhance our school (specifically Room 7)

Big Questions:

  • What do plants need to grow?
  • Why do we need plants in environment?
YEAR 2:
Our school wide concept is- 'Past, Present, Future'

We will be exploring why:

  • Toys/games are important to a range of people of different ages and cultures.
  • Some toys/games have changed over time, whilst some are still the same.

Big Questions:

  • How have toys/games changed over time?
  • Which toys/games are the same/different? Why?

Our Writing Focus will be- Personal Recounts/ Picture Plans/ Cameo Writing/ Recrafting/ Publishing and a particular focus on Transactional Writing: Exposition/ Report.

Our mathematics programme will be- Number: addition and subtraction, number knowledge, basic facts, assessmentt ( Weeks 1-8) Geometry/ Algebra (Weeks 9- 11)

  • -Class Photos- Wednesday 11th May (Week 2)

  • -Grasshopper Tennis- Year 2 (Weeks 1- 4)

  • -3 Way Conferences- Tuesday 17th and Thursday 19th May (Week 3)

  • -Jungle Cafe!- Friday 27th May (Week 4)
  • Year 1 trip to Botanical Gardens- Tuesday 31st May & Wednesday 1st May (Week 5)

  • -'Lines for Louis' Mufti Day- Friday 3rd May (Week 5)

  • -Queens Birthday (School Closed) -Monday 6th June (Week 6)

  • -Year 2 classes trip to Howick Historical Village- Thursday 9th June (Week 6)

  • -Athon Quizz- Friday 24th June (Week 8)
  • -Athon Money to be in by Friday 8th July (Week 10)

    • -Life Education Caravan- (Weeks 10-11)
    • -Athon Money to be in by Friday 8th July (Week 10)
    • Last Day of Term- Friday 15th July (Week 11)
